About Milo
Travel is full of information. We wanted something more useful.
There are endless reviews, rankings, videos, and recommendations. The problem isn’t a lack of information. It’s knowing what is actually worth your time and money. Milo exists to make that decision easier.
We look at hotels, restaurants, attractions, and experiences through a premium family travel lens, with a simple goal: help you spend less time researching and feel more confident about what you choose.
We don’t try to cover everything. We try to be useful where it matters.
What Milo looks for
Every place is considered through the same five questions:
- Experience — what actually happens once you’re there?
- Value — is the experience worth what it costs, beyond the price tag alone?
- Fit — who is this genuinely right for, and who should probably skip it?
- Friction — what are the small things that quietly make the experience worse?
- Memory — six months later, will you still be talking about it?
How Milo works
Milo Experienced — places personally experienced and judged firsthand.
Milo Destination Brief — a concise, practical introduction to each destination for first-time visitors — the things worth knowing before you go, from getting around and weather to connectivity, money, local basics, and family considerations.
Milo Editorial — a small number of deeper stories about places, people, and experiences worth exploring further.
Milo keeps these layers distinct.
We never present researched information as firsthand experience. If Milo hasn’t experienced a place, we won’t imply that we have.
Where AI fits
AI can help organize information, connect knowledge, and make useful answers easier to find. But AI doesn’t visit a hotel. It doesn’t experience a restaurant. It doesn’t know what a place actually feels like. And it doesn’t write Milo’s judgments.
AI can help connect the dots. Experience provides the judgment. Provenance comes first.
Why Milo exists
Milo began as a personal travel reviewing practice built around a simple idea: reviews are more useful when they help you decide, not just describe.
A beautiful room matters. A great location matters. A long list of amenities can be useful. But the questions that really matter are often simpler: is it worth it? Who is it actually good for? What will make the experience harder than it looks? And, ultimately, would I choose it again?
That’s the kind of travel information Milo is here to provide.
How Milo makes money
Milo may earn a commission when you book through certain links on the site. These partnerships help support Milo, but they do not determine our judgments or recommendations.
We recommend something because we believe it may be useful to you — not because it pays us more.
A note on trust
- We don’t pretend to have been everywhere.
- We don’t believe there is one best place for everyone.
- We don’t turn research into firsthand experience.
- We don’t sell our judgment.
Milo’s job is simple: help you make a better travel decision.
